This street was originally built by the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte to commemorate his early victory against the Austrian army at Rivoli in 1797. Its magnificently arcaded section stretches from the front of the Louvre palace/museum, passes by the garden of the Tuileries and finishes at the Place de la Concorde. When you walk out of your apartment, you will be facing the main entrance of the Louvre, home to one of the greatest collections of art and where the main fashion shows and antiques fairs take place. Place Vendome, which houses the most famous jewelers in the world, Rue St. Honoré rich with the most renowned designer clothes and antique shops, The Palais Royale, the Seine, the Opera house and Notre Dame are all but a few minutes walk.
